Announcing Traq v3.9.0-beta.1

By Jack ·

Traq 3.9.0-beta.1 is out. If nothing turns up, stable should be about a week away.

⚠️ Beta Release Warning

This is a beta and still not for production. If you try it on an existing install, back up your database first.

What's in beta 1

What's changed since alpha 3:

jQuery is gone

The frontend and the installer no longer use jQuery. The old jQuery CSS and libraries have been removed.

Ticket system refactor

The ticket code has been refactored and cleaned up, and it should perform better. The way ticket changes are handled was reworked, and it now has test coverage.

Redesigned timeline page

The timeline page has been redesigned.

Buttons, toolbars and popovers

Buttons and toolbars have been overhauled, and pagination and button styles were tweaked. The confirmation popovers look better. Popovers, ticket task management and the custom field form were rebuilt with Alpine. Modals and general styles were polished, and pre text wraps now.

Bug fixes

Clearing the version and component on a ticket works again, and there are more wiki fixes. The installer's install check no longer fails on errors.

Removed

Private tickets, deprecated code in the API controller, and other very old code. See below for what to do about private tickets.

Private tickets have been removed

If you use private tickets, you'll need to change how you handle them before upgrading. Use a separate project instead:

  1. 1. Create a new project for the tickets that shouldn't be public, for example "Security" or "Internal".
  2. 2. In that project's permissions, set view_tickets to deny for the groups that shouldn't see them.
  3. 3. Allow the groups that should, and file the sensitive tickets there.

Testing the Beta

Please try it out and report any problems on the Traq bug tracker so they can be fixed before stable. Back up your database before testing on an existing install. Download it from the GitHub releases page.
